Topic: Authorizing guests to print

Hi

I'd like to know where can I allow guest users to use my printer.
I know that I can do it by modifying the /etc/smb.conf file but I'd prefer not to do it if possible.
I'd also like to know how can I access the /e-smith-password and /e-smith-manager from the internet because everytime I try to reach them outside my local network, it doesn't work.

In my opinion (as a newbie) I think that you should not modify smb.conf as E-smith makes all necessary changes to let all users in the lan access the printers attached to the e-smith box's ports.
if the Guest user you say is outside local network I think it could be possible (I haven't try this yet) to access those printers via the "dialin" module you should check the add-ons for e-smith or search the phorums with "dialin" keyword
The other subject: giving full acces to the e-smith manager console or password console, could be very dangerous! dont you think?
You could enable telnet (disabled by default) to acces the e-smith box or console from outside, but is very unsecure.
 hope someone else could help more and correct me if I'm wrong.

Allowing unauthenticated access to the printers is almost certainly unwise. We do not support it. However, if you wish to modify your own server to do that, we have documentation at http://www.e-smith.org/custom/ to help you.

Adittionally, I have been looking in the e-smith users guithe....
There are several secure methods to have secure administrative remote access, ( ssh, pptp (vpn)) but as the guide says, it's highly recomended not to enable them in order to preserve security.

The problem is that I want the users of my e-smith server to be able to change their password whenever they want.
I have several users who will never come to my office so they won't be able to access the /e-smith-password and they will never be able to change their password. As you've see, telnet and ssh is disable for all users except root and admin.
Does anybody have an idea on how I can make my users be able to change their password from the internet?
