network printer problem?
« on: May 24, 2002, 10:44:31 AM »
Hi everyone, i got a bit of a complex and stupid question here.

im getting myself a used lexmarx optra s at a great deal, only problem is, it has a token ring card in it. i have a little token ring crap sitting here in a box. since my network is all 100mbit, what i was thinking of doing was adding a token ring card to the esmith server, creating a seperate network for just the laser printer, and using the server/Samba as a que/bridge type design.

does anyone see any problems with this idea, in thery it will work just fine.
reason why im just going to use the token ring card, is i dont have all that money, and being diagnosed with cancer 3 months ago, that little bit of money has to go a long way.

any help or ideas are greatly apreceated

Does it have parallel connection ?

If so use a long pp printer lead and hook
it up locally to your e-smith box then
setup in printers. Everyone on windows
just need drivers installed and set
printer details to port \server\lexmark
