generally
http://www.e-smith.org/cgi-bin/contrib.cgi
specifically
User Shell Access
4.1.x
How to grant users shell access to the e-smith server
http://www.dungog.net/sme/howto/usershell.html
Alternately
daniel van raay has a contrib rpm that optionally gives sudo access in addition.
sudo gives a user root privileges by prefixing the command with sudo
eg. sudo tail /var/log/messages
