dsl router dynalink

Hi,
I'm just trying to configure our sme 5.2 server to run as a mail server. Its been working as a multi pop system but now we have ADSL with a dynalink rta020. I've asked the ISP to change the dns records and when i ping mail.xxxx.xx.xx it resolves our ip address.( from an external computer). However the mail just doesnt seem to be coming in. I've tried setting up the virtual server settings on the router but it isn't working. I've also changed the email retrival settings to standard.

I have 2 network cards in the server one for the local network and one going straight to the router. Have you any ideas ?

thanks

Hi

I suppose you live in Chch or Wgtn?

You need get the rta020 to just pass the packets thru to your sme box. the support desk guy is quite helpful but you will have to keep phoning cos there's only one of them i think.

make sure that your external NIC IP No. is on the same subnet as the rta

e.g. rta = 192.168.1.1
sme ext nic = 192.168.1.2
sme gateway = 192.168.1.1
sme internal nic (lan) = 192.168.2.1 (or whatever)

also - if you want to do vpn you will NEVER do it with rta020. this is confirmed by the support desk. Switch to the d-link 500 (when they arrive)
