Topic: new system-transfer of data

Hi all,

I've done a custom install of 5.2.1, as a replacement from 4.1.2.
I have 4 hdd's; 2x mirrored O/S(4.5g) and 2 mirrored /home(18g).
works like a treat.
What I now need is to transfer all the data from old server to the new one.
Is it possible to just copy the directories needed (refer FAQ) from old HDD
to new sever after mounting the old disk into the system ?
Unfortuantly, the backup is to big for desktop, and I don't have access to a tape drive.

hi,,,
   the only thing possible is using the tape as a backup or in the desktop,,,other than that like what your saying is to copy the directories ,,it;s possible but you also have to make some adjustments on your database and configurations i think,, and sad to say it's very very painful,,,,
    so mek an investment such as a hard drive ,,,this is the only thing thats easiest compared to tape....
