Multiple NICs on LAN side
« on: June 19, 2002, 06:05:16 AM »
Hi all,

Does anyone know what sort of routing capability we have if we configure multiple NICs on the LAN side of a SME server ?

Eg.

One segment has addresses of 192.168.10.x
and
another segment has addresses of 192.168.20.x

If we connect one segment to LAN-NIC1 of the SME server and the other segment to LAN-NIC2 of the SME server, will we :-

1. achieve net segmentation (ie. packets for 192.168.10.x only stays on that segment and vice-versa)

2. have configurable routing so that packets from one segment bound for the other segment will route across correctly

Or is it just all too hard and we should just invest in a router !

TIA !
