Our illustrious and blood-sucking telco here decided arbitrarily to disable the PPPoE service without notice. As I was depending on dyndns (org and com) to update my IP addresses, this is no longer an option as I had to re-configure my e-smiths as:
1. Server and Gateway
2. Static IP Address
3. Set the external eth1 IP address to 10.0.0.1
4. Set the external eth1 netmask 255.0.0.0
5. Set the gateway address 10.0.0.138 (Alcatel speedtouch ADSL)
Then I had to define a PPP connection on the configuration of the Alcatel with username and password and connection is ppp Always On.
Is there a script/trick/howto/magic to get my IP address automatically communicated to dyndns servers whenever the IP address changes?
Would really appreciate some urgent help here!
