Netware-Login via VPN
« on: June 26, 2002, 02:50:30 PM »
Hi,
we use Netware 5 at the office as a File/Faxserver and the smeserver as a Firewall and for Webaccess to some files. Since some weeks we use it for VPN-connection and this works fine between Windows machines, even if we can't see them in the Network environment, but can access them in a Browser(\PC-Name). Now we'd like to login to our Netware-Server via VPN, but this doesn't work. I think I'd have to forward ports 427 and 524(TCP/UDP), but don't know how,  because I'm new in Linux-networking. Has anyone a solved this before?
Thanks in advance,
Sebastian

Not sure how easy this is - I managed to make a link with Freesco somewhile ago. I have a feeling that the authentication is the problem. I have a feeling that you can't just browse as easily as you can with Windoze machines.

I can't remember exactly what I did and whether you need the Novell Client or not.

I also think that you have to get NIAS running as well.

You probably could do with having a read of the novell newsgroups - I thnk there is one that covers remote access - and a good troll through the net.

Alternatively, kick the Novell server into touch and just use your E-smith server for the lot ;-)

Good luck.

Finaly solved it myself - you can't login directly, but after having installed a newer client in IP-Mode with IPX-Compatibility and entering the Server-IP(\ip) in Explorer the client asks to authenticate and you're in...
