problems accessing manager
« on: March 16, 2001, 12:01:24 AM »
Since today I have problems to gain access to e-smith-manager.

When I try to log in to the manager page I get the following message:

http 403 forbidden

You have no access to this page .......etc.

I am not promted for a username and password. Yesterday everything worked fine.

Where should I take a look to solve this problem?

When I try to log in on the console using the text-browser I get the following message:

You don't have permission to access /common/noframes on this server

I checked this directory. It's there and there are files in it.

It seems tat this problem has something to do with the package e-smith-loginscripts. I installed this package because my Windows domain login was broken. I could not log in to the domain anymore for some reason. When I installed the package I mentioned above it worked again.

I de-installed the package and I was able to login to the web-based manager again. The problem now is off course that my domain login does not work anymore. Is there another way to fix the domain login problem without damaging the manager?

What do you mean "domain logon broken..."?
It should not be a problem using domain logon....
have you enabled it form the manager?
windows machines can take a batch file from the server and log on to the domain especified in e-smith..
Could you tell me more about your trouble?
Alejandro.

The problem was (In the meantime I re-installed the whole server) that all WIN95/98 workstations connected to the server had an error messaage during login. It said: could not find share name, or something like that (I use a Dutch version of Windows). The only way to login to those workstations was to bypass the client for microsoft networks. All the shares on the e-smith box did not function in that case ofcourse.

BTW, I enabled domain-logon in the manager.
