Dell 2650 aacraid

Dear all,

I'm trying to get a 2650 with raid 5 configuration working.
I've read all docs, visited all related websites, but i'm not able to get it working.
The aacraid module seems not to recognise the built in controller.

Does onyone know how to get this going?

If you can get this going... I would really like to hear about it.

Here's a link to another thread... if you want to check out my experiences.

Hello,

I'm in the same situation. Is there a solution to change driver ?
On dell site i found a new file for aacraid but i can't use it ( i can't write on read-only media :(
Is there a solution to change it ? I can install rehat 7.3 but i can't install sme 55 ... Did someone can use sme on a poweredge 2650?
I use a 2550 with no problem and i would like to have a working solution on a 2650.
I read the thread of Abe Loveless but i can't found solution about my problem...

Install the SME 5.6 beta, worked on mine.

In my opinion, the solution is going to be to wait for 5.6 to come out.

Hello

I search info about this bug and i found a patch ( http://www.domsch.com/linux/aacraid-old.html ). Did you try it?

Untill the e-smith distribution uses a 2.4 kernel,  i've decided to just go for a standard Redhat 7.2 installation. The advantage is that it's supported by Dell.

I've also got a problem getting a Dell Poweredge 350 installed. It says 'kernel panic, unable to mount vfs volume'. Anyone a solution; i think it has something to do with the intel chipset.

It might be useful to try installing 5.6beta1 on that machine, even if it's
just an install followed by an installation of RH7.2, to see if the troublesome
card will work in 5.6 (which will have the 2.4 kernel).

If you have a chance to try it and encounter any problems, please let us
know about them at 'beta@e-smith.com'.

The ISO is available at

Cheers,

Happy days!

I've installed the latest 5.6 (7) on my Poweredge 350 and everything except for some minor things works like a charm!

I hope there will be an upgrade path from the beta to the release....
