I'm scratching my balding head...

Prior to the 5.5 release my (dungog.net) TMDA package allowed use of the cool qmail drop-in known as SPAMCONTROL. For the benefit of those who don't know about it, SPAMCONTROL denies the latest spam technique of spoofing your domain in order to allow mail in from the outside.

With the SPAMCONTROL patch, QMAIL 1.03 complies to RFC 1870 and 2505, so it was all good. The SPAMCONTROL patch improves the qmail-smtpd's filtering capabilities as a selective relay. QMAIL can advised to ignore (not to invoke QMAIL-QUEUE for) E-Mails from particular SENDERS and/or for RECIPIENTS.

Filtering is done analyzing the E-Mail SMTP ENVELOPE SENDER (MAIL from:) and/or RECIPIENT (RCPT to:) address.

With the introduction of the use of mailfront instead of Obtuse SMTP, I am wondering if SPAMCONTROL is now hoarked?

The fight against SPAM is starting to get very complex and breaching the edge of my ability to deal with it. I have sent this message to Steven at dugnog.net to see if he has figured out how to put it all back together. I am hoping some clever e-smith developer is already working thur this issue.

regards,

patrick
