Can connect via pptp but not ssh
« on: July 15, 2002, 04:49:43 PM »
Hi everyone,

For the last few days I cannot connect remotely through SSH to my 5.1.2 e-smith "server and gateway."
Everything worked fine before, and the only recent changes I made were the addition of AWStats for e-smith Server and Gateway as for Michael Weinberger How-To, and pptp access so that I can actually look at those nice stats graphs. When I run ssh locally or through the tunnel it works fine, but it tells me host unreachable when I try remotely to the IP. The log files don’t show anything unusual.
Some basic setup:
Under the server-manager SSH access is set to public, with Yes and Yes on the command line and standard pswrd access options, and PPTP is set to 1.
When I  do ps -aux|grep ssh to check if SSH is running I get
root      9347  0.0  0.9  2652 1196 ?        S    Jul14   0:01 /usr/sbin/sshd
root     10774  0.1  1.3  3480 1828 ?        S    12:41   0:00 /usr/sbin/sshd

What gives? I appreciate any input.
