esmith or esmith-up on boot ??

I just noticed that when I do a cold boot on my esmith iron I have an option on the first screen in which I may select esmith or esmith-up using the arrow keys.....what is this?

esmith is for SMP multiprocessor capabilities, and esmith-up stands for UniProcessor.

This will occur on some machines that are not multiprocessor machines. I had it on my P4.
