ezmlm - moderated list - subscribers to post only
« on: August 10, 2002, 01:45:01 PM »
Hi,

I have installed Gordon's contributed ezmlm which seems to make mailing list administration very easy (Thanks).

I started some testing and as long as I use the default settings in the web interface, it works as expected in regards to subscribers/non-subscribers trying to post:
Subscribers can post, non-subscribers mails will be rejected. Fine.

Now I need to set up a moderated list so I use the "Message moderation" tick and I define a moderator.
After that change, also non-subsribers can post to the list and their  message, rather than being rejected (that's what I expected) will go to the moderator for approval.
Is that the feature as designed, is it a bug or do I misunderstand?
I don't want the moderator to reject messages from non-subsribers. I want their messages to be automatically rejected, exactly as it works for non-moderated lists. How can I achieve this?

Thanks for any help.

Regards,
Michael

Michael,

I think you will find that it is working as designed. You have "subscription moderation" i.e you can accept or reject subscribers or "message moderation" i.e you accept or reject messages.

Thanks Jon,

It sounds good and I read the link but the results here are just confusing when using the web interface. List subscriber's mail go straight through to the list (no moderator intervention), non-subscriber's mails go to the moderator .....???
www.ezmlm.org apparently doesn't exist any longer....

I am a bit lost .... Anybody else with some experience in that area?

I have also installed this on a 5.5 system, but the web panel does not come up in the server manager.

I found the 3 RPMs in Gordons space on the e-smith server, but couldn't find a howto.

Is there one somewhere?

Cheers
