Multiple Sub Folders in Outlook Express

Hi,

I encountered this problem recently.

I discovered that you cant have more then 3 levels of sub folders.

For instance, there is

INBOX, DRAFTS, SENT ITEMS, TRASH, OTHERS. - root level

then within OTHERS, there are is a folder call A.

with folder A, there is A1.

However, when you reset the IMAP folder list, Folder A1 is gone. So does all the mails. I think this is a very serious problem. I am using IMAP and Outlook Express as the client. Have anyone encountered this before?

I later discovered that by creating a folder A1 back, the mails will all of a sudden appear again. I think this is a pretty serious problem. I am not very good in this area, but I hope perhpas someone already have taken notice of this.

Thanks.

Yes, I have encountered this. I just make sure I do not ever reset the IMAP folders list.  I know this is not a great solution, but I just wantered to let you know that you are not alone in finding this behavior. I suggest that you record all the folders in your tree so that you can find them again if you ever do hit reset. I have found no way to even discover what folders are on the IMAP server for an account.

Note: The same problem seems to exists in Outlook.

just to add, if u are interested to know what folders have been created, u can actually go into the user's mail directory to check.

since i am not the only person experiencing this, its really strange that not many people actually mentioned it.

anyway, hope someone can provide a solution, if not at least a explaination to why the folders keep disppearing.

:)
