E-Mail Server Problems
« on: September 26, 2002, 09:51:22 PM »
The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'sales@vamcomputers.com'. Subject 'test', Account: 'data-networks.ca', Server: 'data-networks.ca', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 Sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Now from what I have heard.. Or from what others have told me..

Qmail is to recieve mail Correct?
Sendmail is to sendmail Correct?

Now this error that I'm getting which of the 2 would it be?

Note this is while sending mail so I figured it would be a sendmail problem.

But when I add that domain into the  /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts rcpthosts using the template system it will allow the e-mail to be sent there. But if I don't have the domain in there I get the error at the top.. I don't even enter anything into any sendmail settings at all..

What should I be looking for?? Or get support with it for?

Would this be a qmail problem or a sendmail problem??

Thanks,
Sean

It isn't a sendmail problem, because there is no sendmail mta on sme.
I suppose you are sending your mails directly to the recipants host.
This might be the problem. Some hosts doesn't accept mail from
servers with dynamic ip-addresses. If possible try to use your ISP-SMTP
Server as relay host. I have had the same problem and relaying thru
my ISP's smtp-server fixed it.
hope this helps

I kept getting a similar message, everytime the tape backup notification email was sent (sender CRON_DEAMON).

I had a domain name specified for notification other than that of the primary domain of my server.  The other domain name was a virtual host on the server.  I changed the email address to the domain name of the primary server and never got that error again.

I notice you have two domains listed in the message . . .

Not sure if my problem was a bug in the server software.

I had about the same message when I set up my mail server. I was useing a dynamic IP address with dyndns.org. the problem was I needed to set up a virtual domain in sme called the same as my domain at dyndns.org. once i set that up it worked.

I'm new at this but I hope this helps.
