Topic: pppoe with new France Telecom Cable modems

Hi,

I was using SME since V 4.0 with a cable modem in France (France Telecom Cable).
Since the beginning, FTC was using a private system based on DHCP which was .

By now, they changed their whole system to comply to the new DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS rules by using PPPoE for accessing the cable service.

I thought this won't be a problem for SME since PPPoE is managed for a while now with ADSL modems and this is basically the same thing for this new cable modem.

So I changed my config as if I was having a dsl modem and ... nothing, it didn't want to work.
I then tried to reinstall properly my server (I was using a 5.1.2 version of SME) with the latest 5.5 release and ... still nothing.

Here is the message I get in my logs :

Is there any french Cable user there who had a similar problem ?

Hi,

I'm french too, but for anyone can read it I'll continue in English.

I've been using e-smith with dialup modem before cable modem.
I didn't experience trouble with the PPPOE from SME with cable modem.

Anyway, in case you don't know there's a french newsgroup dedicated to SME.

You may ask there for someone experiencing troubles like yours.
