Topic: add Local Network?

I have an e-smith server/gateway (working wonderfully thank you) to which I must add two more Win machines that can 'see' only each other and the Internet (and their email from the e-smith mail server)  Net Neighbourhood shows all Windows Wokgroups.  Does Add Local Network create a subnet?  Do I then manually assign IP addresses (in the subnet) to those two machines, and add the e-smith server ip address as a gateway?
