I have had some experience with this device under Windows. Even when connected directly to a Win machine parallel port, the software is often difficult to install and problematic in use. Also, I believe the scanner software runs better on Win2K than on Win9x.
This is a question that you should be able to address with HP. Can it be used for scanning through a print server or through a Linux server? Since they have been touting their committment to Linux lately, you ought to be able to get a straight answer.
