hi there,
I'll take a try to see if i can get you going but please also see my posts with Michael at this link (cut and paste)
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=10464.msg39442#msg39442-------------------
the first three errors after running faxsetup are normal.
/ sbin/mgetty does not exist
/ sbin/vgetty does not exist
/ bin/egetty does not exist
the last one .....
/ usr/bin/gs does not exist
is because you it needs the ver of ghostscript-5.50-8.rpm and not the 6.0-2 version (as you may have got the latest available one) so go back to
www.rpmfind.net and get these.... (or from your RH 7 CD's)
1. XFree86-xfs-4.0.1-1.i386.rpm
2. chkfontpath-1.7.2-5.i386.rpm
3. urw-fonts-2.0-8.noarch.rpm
4. ghostscript-fonts-5.50-3.noarch.rpm
5. XFree-libs-4.0.1-1.i386.rpm
6. ghostscript-5.50-8.i386.rpm
7. libtiff-3.5.5-7.i386.rpm
8. redhat-release-7.0-1.noarch.rpm
9. hylafax-4.1beta3-1rh7.i386.rpm
10. metamail-2.7-25.i386.rpm
If you can get and install all these in their current order .... Oh yes also before running the faxsetup command please add a user bythe name of 'fax' under the e-smith user add in the webmanager panel. I guess then you should be ready for doing your faxsetup command.
Remember to say no when it asks if it can restart the hylafax server process (only do this the first time when no modem has been setup) doing so you can continue normally to do the modem setup. Ofcourse you want to say ttyS0 for the modem on the first com port ie: Com1 and ttyS1 fior the modem on the second com port Com2.
there is a lot more to be done after the whole setup and there are nice addon programs too, check the links page on
www.hylafax.orgUnfortunately I'm not a programmer or Linux guru but maybe one day I do manage to get doing a fully working RPM with all the progs needed (like mentioned above).
If you need any (or all) of the RPM's needed from the list please ask for an email as its about 8MB uncompressed. To help out others I am putting those on a publik folder on my ADSL line so please see my site
www.berzek.org.
all the best,
aniston
