Installing and configuring Sound Blaster 16/32 3D ISA card o
« on: November 19, 2002, 11:57:38 AM »
With the help of certain how-to's I have tried to install and configure this card, but it will not work properly after the modprobe sb command I get this error message:

modprobe sb
/lib/modules/2.2.19-7.0.8/misc/sb.o: init_module: Device or resource busy
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.2.19-7.0.8/misc/sb.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.19-7.0.8/misc/sb.o failed
/lib/modules/2.2.19-7.0.8/misc/sb.o: insmod sb failed

and after that the dmesg command give me this output:

Soundblaster audio driver Copyright (C) by Hannu Savolainen 1993-1996
sb: dsp reset failed.

I think this has something to do with the IO, IRQ and DMA adresses for this card. Can anybody tell me, or help me to get this card working properly so I can use it to play MP3, WAV and MIDI files on my SME server ?

My Regards,

Molski

even though its old Ill answer this one...

The e-smith server was not designed for playing mp3. The e-smith server is actually good for storing your mp3 on, and streaming them to all your other clients....
