LDAP Address book for Win Clients ?
« on: November 24, 2002, 05:32:54 PM »
Hi All,

Could anyone point me of an address book application for WIn clients
that could take advantage of the LDAP services on SME server ?

USer would need to be able to add and ammend enteries.

They asked for something like Lotus Organiser or Shcedule plus but only
really need address book side of things ?

Many Thanks !

ps I know Netscape AB does it but they have bolted down M$ desktops
with IE / OE

OE can be set up to access an LDAP data source - the Netscape example in the e-smith docs is  pretty close to what you need to so. If you get stuck, let me know off-list and I can send you more information.

Forget LDAP, it's a waste of space for something that simple. Just use Lotus Organizer and save the  .orX file in an ibay as a mutli-user file. It work's perfectly.

Lotus Organizer is still the best bet. It costs very little and the .orx files can be saved as mutli-user and shared by large numbers of people.

What would be really good is if anyone has a database app to do this with the ability to use the addresses for mailmerging in MS Office.
