Has anyone had any luck setting e-smith up as a wireless Access Point? If so, what card did you use? If possible, I would like to use one of the cards that supports an external antenna. Does anyone have any recommendations/links for cards with this support or specific antennas that worked well?
Also, I'm interested in setting up a secure proxy (squid w/ SSL?) for wireless users in order to increase the security. Has anyone tried this? Any other suggestions to increase the security?
If I can't use e-smith as a wireless AP, I am interested in purchasing one that will just connect to a 3rd NIC. (I think I saw some documentation on that) But I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a specific hardware (stand-alone) AP that supports an external antenna.
Also, for the wireless users, is there anyway to keep people from connecting to your wireless network? (I know WEP can be broken, and I'm not worried about packet sniffers, I just don't want people to be able to use the internet) If I setup the AP to allow only 1 or 2 valid MAC addresses, then would that keep others from stealing my net access?
Sorry for the long post everyone! Your comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks
