Has anyone installed the Imagemagick toolkit? I am using Menalto's Gallery and believe that Imagemagick is better suited than NetPBM for graphics handling. Version 1.3.2 of Gallery offer the posibility of using Imagemagick.

Hello Knut,

I use the gallery php script also and I lookt op of your saying "Version 1.3.2 of Gallery offer the posibility of using Imagemagick"

Because on their site off Menalto's Gallery on http://gallery.menalto.com is standing the next thing.

"People commonly ask me to extend Gallery to support ImageMagick or some other image library of their choice. The good news is that Gallery 2.0 will support many different image libraries. It's in the works!"

"Gallery 2 (or G2) is under active development. We encourage you to download and play with it and give us your feedback. Use the CVS instructions here and check out the gallery2 module. Follow the instructions in the README that comes with the code. Have fun. Remember it's a work in progress and until we release it officially, we won't support it in any way."

So we can say that in version 1.3.x is no other image library then the used NetPBM libray.

Hi Johan
I have been looking a bit into the ImageMagick question and found this section in the changelog for 1.3.2
--------------------------------------------
2002-09-14  Bharat Mediratta   1.3.2-cvs-b6
* Gallery now supports ImageMagick, thanks to a patch from Vallimar!
--------------------------------------------
I also see that in the setup of 1.3.2 it is possible to choose between NetPBM and ImageMagick.

Read more her: http://gallery.menalto.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

Of interest is it that I had problem with uploading JPEG's after upgrading.
There is two solutions to this. One of which is mentioned in the link above.
The other solution is to rename the file /usr/bin/ppmtojpeg to /usr/bin/pnmtojpeg.
