Hello,
I have two SME systems (ver 5.5) in different locations connected with broadband internet. I am able to setup the root account to use RSA authentication over SSH but cannot figure out how to do that for the admin account under e-smith. Any suggestions would be helpful (I have done a number of searches and found nothing).

What I really want is the ability to securely manage one system from the other. I would prefer using the web server manager but even the Lynx one will do (which is what I can do through the admin/SSH).

For the record both of my servers have dynamic IP addresses with a Dynamic DNS service to track the addresses, so I cannot set a remote network IP address. I have tried setting up PPTP and accessing one system remotely from a Windows 2000 workstation - I keep getting Error 619: the specified port is not connected.

I currently use SSH with straight passwords generally. From a security perspective do you folks think all this trouble (RSA Authentication) is worthwhile?

Thanks,
Roger.

Roger

Problem closed...
I have all the updates applied for Windows 2000. The e-snith docementation indicates that if no updates are required you should be okay. However I had to download the high security encryption package for 2000.

Now I can connect through PPTP. On to the next problem...I do not see the other server after connecting. Maybe need to have both servers in same workgroup somehow??
