wireless subnets???
« on: December 11, 2002, 10:29:54 AM »
I just set up an addional server for out lan to mainly provide wireless access to our laptops. the problem I have now is the following:

our lan consists of several (smb-)servers and notebook-clients all with fixed IP's and the subnet 255.255.255.128 (I can't change that because of the rules on our campus)
the stupid netgear me102 AP has a fixed subnet 255.255.255.0. the server is setup with the ....128 subnet on it's external nic and with the .....0 subnet on the internal nic and provides dhcp to the wireless clients. the laptops can access the web and the gateway-server fine but they can't see the other sambaservers in the local lan. I can access the other machines by their fixed IP's but not with their samba-names, same with networkprinters.

Is there a way to connect the 2 subnets so that everything works like the wireless-clients would be connected via the standard lan ???

thanks a lot in advance,

Jon Blakely

I thought you could change the subnet mask on the ME102 using the Access Point SNMP Manager.

unfortunatly not with the firmware v. 1.4h4 :(
it is a bug in this firmware and it seems that I can't downgrade the fw.
