There's CLAM AntiVirus. There's a contrib available to integrate that into SME 5.5 but so far attempts at running it on SME 5.1.2 has failed. The command line scanning works in 5.1.2 but not the integration of CLAM into qmail.

Commercial add-ons like RAV are also available.

The latest RAV is very nice.  It also includes an excellent SPAM filter.  www.myezserver.com

I have tried: h+bedv  I ran it on my e-smith 5 server and now I am running it on my 5.5 servers and it works great.

I have it on 3 servers and it works great. Plus it has the plugins for your server manager.

Thanks Tyrone,
the howto and rpm just sets up virus scanning
but using damien curtains AMaViS - Next Generation 0.1.4.1 rpm
and changing one line in the config file which is fairly clear you can change from clam to h+bevd and scan mail too !

just another option

Thanks for the info Stephen. But the link you gave me seems to be dead. Can you let me know if it is? If so is there somewhere else to get that software. I would love to have REALTIME scanning of my e-mail!

I've already emailed Damien about it (it's his site), but no response so far.

Cheers

So can I run this with  h+bedv ? Is there a change I need to make in a config file? Or should I just take h+bedv off? I really want real time scanning for my e-mail. But I like the h-bedv e-smith plugin and server manager functions.

you can just use amavisNG with h+bedv

you choose which virus engine you use, select this in amavis.conf
just uncomment h+bedv and commment clamAV

Ahhhhhh! Cool thanks a lot...

One other thing I want to know is if this program will allow me to do real time virus scanning of my e-mail etc?

(I am assuming it does. LOL!)

Hummmm? I was told that I had all kinds of dependency problems? I need like 8 different Perl modules and that I needed Arc, Unarj, unrar, zoo and lah?
