Samba-2.2.7-3 and OsX Jag
« on: January 07, 2003, 12:46:51 PM »
Hi,
I've just installed esmith 5.5 and the samba-2.2.7-3 update which worked out really well for our xp clients but the newly upgraded osX (jaguar) client keep getting booted off when working through appletalk (the service eventually stops and needs a server restart).

Although I would love to use the windows network sharing it won't let me use the untagged mac files. Have anyone had the same experience? Does anyone know how to install netatalk-1.6.0.tar.gz?

Thanks
James

Looks like that I am not the first get trouble on Samba 2.2.7, I found that It is not supporting i18n well (It reject some Chinese file name that work well on Samba 2.2.4).

Anyway I will stick to 2.2.4 on production server at this moment.

Anyone else found a idea on this topic......

Best Regards,

Thanks, I knew sooner or later it would be an upgrade too far, I dream of a production server one day...

More to the point does anyone have a url for samba 2.2.4 download (and maybe some instructions), all I can find is 2.2.7 at the moment!

Cheers

Did you ever get netatalk-1.6.0.tar.gz installed?

What version of netatalk is installed with SME v5.5?

I'm having problems with Mac OS X (10.1.5) misreading the files in certain directories. For example, I'll load an ibay up on my OS X-based machine and the files listed in a certain folder will not be the sames ones listed when the same folder is viewed via OS 9.2.2 or via the command line. When I reload the ibay, the problem is still there, but when I reboot-the same directory will list the correct files. Needless to say, this is a nightmare for me, since I use the OS X Mac to mirror/sync the files stored on the ibay for backup/safekeeping.

Would netatalk 1.6 solve my problem? Or would OS 10.2 Jaguar?
