quick squid question

Howdy all, just wondering once I change the squid.conf file (via a custom template) all I need to do is to restart squid via the command:

squid -k reconfigure

Right? Or do I _have_ to kill squid and restart it for the changes to be picked up?

Thanks heaps!

Why not use:

/etc/rc.d/init.d/squid  restart

Will that then pickup the changes in the squid.conf file though?

So far squid -k reconfigure is the only way I can find to restart squid so that it checks the conf file for changes and implements them.
