How to add static IP address to DNS
« on: January 31, 2003, 04:57:52 PM »
I have a 5.6 box running in server/gateway mode functioning as DHCP server for my local LAN. I now have some devices in my local LAN that it would like to provide static IP address for. So far no problem as long as I give them address not conflicting with the DHCP server (e.g. 192.168.212.65+). I have given them f.ex 192.168.212.50. Now my question is - how do I add a names to this IP address ? I would like to browse them via HTTP

http://switch.domain.dk

but how do I get the server to resolve switch to 192.168.212.50 ?

Enter it in the "Hostnames and addresses" panel in Server Manager. Simple as that.

P.S. Read the manual. http://edocs.mitel.com/6000_SME_Server/smeserveruserguide/English/admin-hostnames.html

Hmm that was quite simple :-) Thanks and maybe I will study the manual harder next time.
