PPTP on SME V5.6
« on: February 07, 2003, 04:32:39 AM »
I just upgraded to the alpha 6 of sme 5.6 to try and resolve on going access database corruption issues. And now None of the office people on the mainland can login via the VPN. On mine when I try and connect locally from within the network using the external IP is says error port not open (using win2k) and My boss gets an error saying that particular encryption is not supported.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am slowly going crazy

Well, as a response to myself, I just went in and disabled require data encryption or disconnect, and It connected. But this seems a little silly as data encryption is really what makes the VPN so, well Private. is the some fundamentle I'm not grasping ? In the words of a really bad Australian politician:
"please explain"

I have the same problem whit a nb with W2k, but I resolve the problem upgrading the encryption level of the Notebook try windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Some windows2k for export is set to 54bit level encryption not 128 and VPN does not work properly, but after this update the NB work fine.
