SME 5.6 and CBQ
« on: February 11, 2003, 10:45:31 AM »
I have SME 5.6 configured with 3 NIC's (WAN,LAN1,LAN2) ... When I close bandwith on LAN1 to 56kbps and start CBQ bandwidth realy go down to 56k, but all server is becoming very slow like working on 10%. Server is acting as PDC, but domain logons are now very slow adn painfull (not 100%) etc. When I use SSH on server all commands response are so slow...

Server config is: (for those who thinks that i am running this on old P1)

P4-2.4GH, 512MB RAM, 2×WD 80GB 7200-8MB - RAID1,MB ASUS, 3COM905 NICs etc.

Cheers,

Hi,

Most probably you have limited local traffic too :) The problem with QoS is that is hard to figure out the configuration.

Most notably, you have to make a root class for your full net speed (say 100Mb), then a suclass of say 56kb for the traffic that doesnt come from local IP. The only problem with this is that you need to configure the web proxy to use dely pools too (Mitel does by default).

  Hope it helps.

Yes in did. I limited all traffic including local one. So I changed for port 80 only and it works... Now I must apply for all ports except SAMBA. Do you have any sugestions how to (which ports etc...)

Hi,

Well, you could use our eneo-qos package. Sorry to say, its hardcoded in spanish (old 4.1.2 you know :)) You can find an old release in ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/contrib/eneo/RPMS/noarch but you should definetlly try http://www.saco-service.de/SME for the latest release (sometimes is down).

Or you could just "use the code Luke" from it.

  Regards.
