PHP Debugging on SME
« on: February 23, 2003, 04:03:41 AM »
I need some help and guidance on setting up a (remote) debugging environment for PHP development against an SME server (currently running version 5.1.2).  Unfortunatley, Linux is a new environment for me, so I have a hard time understanding some of the instructions.

I have found the products PHPEdit and DBG at http://www.phpedit.net, and they appear to provide what I need/want (breakpoints, etc.), but the instructions for installing/configuraing DBG for remote debugging (http://www.phpedit.net/products/PHPEdit/manual/en/module.Debug.php) seems to indicate either that the package is/requires a separate kernel(?) or the need to recompile (AFAIK, SME excludes the compilers in the distribution).  Am I just completely confused?

I develop on Windows 2000 client.

If anyone can clarify what I need to do, or suggest an alternative product set/approach, I would be immensely grateful!

TIA,
Tore.
