I want to start a subscription service similar to the kind you see used on adult sites where you pay for a month and you get a password and access to a site. I want to do that and sell the music I make. Anyone know of software that is cheap and can be used on e-smith?

Thanks for the help in advance. :-)

Sounds like a job for .htaccess.  You can get a contrib here:

That is only usefull in combination with a script for adding/deleting users (or learn how to do that yourself).

Take a look at contribs.org/LinkBase and do a search for "webshare".  This will give you a secure, server-manager based download location.

Will any of these apps allow me to set something up that allow users to sign up on-line and have a password etc sent to them. (Like adult sites do?)

Easy with a little bit of PHP ;)

I've set that up for quite a few sites... but I'll see if there's something available ready made for you to plug into e-smith and get back to you...

I use an e-smith server to test all my php... but not sure how integrated it is with the e-smith server set up itself, as most of the sites I work on are later moved to another server...   though, if you're going for on-line credit card ordering etc, you'll need to get an SSL certificate for your server, and have internet merchant facilities with your bank etc - otherwise, you could always try using something like clickbank...

'cause the sending of the passwords etc is the easy bit... it's getting the $$$ that can sometimes be a pain ;)

Have you already got all of the $$$ part of it organised?

Ingo.

I can use Pay Pal which allows recurring payments and I can set up links for that. Or something of that nature. I can allow them to get a password and I can run the card if it fails then I can cut off the access.
