I keep hearing about NETLOGON being support/included with E-Smith 4.1

Where is the .bat file located?

I am assuming since the file is run on the local workstation on bootup that hte syntax is the same as in NT correct?

Is this a function of SAMBA?

Thanks,

Tim

If you logon to a PC as the e-smith admin user and map a drive to \e-smith-server\netlogon, where "e-smith-server" is the Samba domain name, you will see the file. Note you won't see teh share by browsing - it's not viewable.

The syntax is the same, as Samba is the open source project to enable Windows domains and shares to be accessible from Unix/Linux environments. Check out www.samba.org for more details.

some tips!
netlogon.bat Is a ms batch (1) file located in /home/netlogon and is used when you have ms mchines geting on a "nt domain network type"
so you have to configure your "ms network client", (in network neighbourhood properties)  to try to logon to a "windows nt domain" that is in fact the "workgroup" name of your samba server (e-smith)
You can edit (uncomment) netlogon.bat to enable worldwide time sync and an specific path linked to your disk account on e-smith
First of all you must be a "defined user" of e-smith to be allowed to use netlogon, and you could create that user on the ms client pc, but  is advisable to use different password to log on to the local pc, (windows password storage is weak enough to take this measure)
Hope it helps
Alejandro

1) try "net -help" command at ms-dos promt in any win 3.1X or later pc

use notepad with the file netlogon.bat
you will find is in \servername\netlogon.
if you use pico or something from linux it will not run OK, just doe it in windows.
