First off, this setup is NOT my idea, but I haven't been able to persuade the end user to do something simpler, yet. They claim to understand the amount of work that they are going to have to do to make this functional.

To put it simply, the end user would like all incoming and outgoing mail to pass through a "control" station. The control station will be a single user who reads the mail, and forwards appropriate messages (with attachments usually) to the appropriate user. I understand how to get the external mail to arrive at a single mailbox, a line in the .qmail file of every user  or an alias that points all @mycompany.it adress to the control address (possibly the alias would be better, as I don't have to dupliate users?).

Internally, to get this to function, I'll be creating an "internal only" virtual domain  (internal.mycompany.it), which will be unaccessable externally, and unable to send mail directly out. I understand (more or less) how to create the domain, and internal users.

I have a few questions though.

1.  How do I do I forward outgoing mail from @internal.mycompany.it adresses to the control@mycompany.it address? Obtuse isn't particularly wordy on how to do anything but deny or allow. Is it even possible?

2. If it is possible, would it be possible to add some granularity, ie; @internal.mycompany.it to @internal.mycompany.it goes direct, all other mail is forwarded to the control user?

I'll gladly read howtos, or documentation, I'm posting here because I've pretty much exhausted most of the resources I've located on-line.

Thanks, Nick

Check out the Dungog RPM's on Email filtering and Virtual Domains - I've used these to good effect on several sites (http://www.dungog.net/sme).

They are commercial RPM's but Steven charges a pittance for them and well worth adding to any sysadmins/consultants armory.
