Evolution & SME 5.6

Does anyone know how to configure Evolution 1.2.2 (as shipped with RH9) to talk to SME 5.6?  I have successfully connected Mozilla and even Outlook Express.  I know it wants to talk because when you are in the configuration screens on the "Searching" tab you can click the "Show Supported Bases" and it finds the DN details.  I get the message "We were unable to open this addressbook. This either means that you have entered an incorrect URI, or the LDAP server is unreachable".

Settings I am using are:
Server Name :  192.168.20.20
Log in method: Anonymously
Port Number:  389
Use SSL/TLS: Whenever Possible
Search Base: dc=Chief,dc=com
Search Scope: one

As I said these settings work for Mozilla & Outlook Express, why not Evolution.

Thanks

Chief

Doesn't anyone use Evolution with SME/E-smith?

Hi there

I am working on an LDAP setup that will require me to to get some Redhat machines with Evolution to connect to an LDAP Address Book. We should stay in contact, because I am doing a lot of development on this topic. Search these forums for the anything to do with LDAP and you will find some interesting info on the topic.

Cheers for now

Hi Ashley

I have searched these boards with little success for this particular problem. I am not doing anything fancy. Plain vanilla Evolution from Redhat 9 trying to connect to plain vanilla SME 5.6. If you have the time and/or the facilities perhaps you could give it a try and let me know if you get it to work or whether you get similar results to me.

Thanks for replying.

Hi,

Just checking to see if you have got any further with connecting Evolution clinets to SME 5.6. I have a need to be able to do this and would gladly help test anything you come up with.
