Deny Email - Proxy Auth
« on: May 02, 2003, 05:53:01 PM »
Good Morning,

Thanks for all the replies to the previous message. This posting is in regards to setting up users for Proxy-auth but denying them email. Is this possible? I've dones some searches through the phorum but with no success. I want to setup the students on the firewall so that they must authenticate before accessing the Internet but I don't want them to have email access. Currently, I am putting a 50k quota max on their account but they can still receive small messages right?

Concerning denying access to the Internet unless they are authenticated, since only port 80 and 21 are restricted with this module, if I installed a module to close all ports except for the ones I specify, will it deny access to programs such as Kazaa and instant messengers that try to use those ports? Whew, that was a run-on sentence.

BTW, I love the new look for webmail.

Good Morning again,

I forgot to mention something else in the previous posting. If I make the E-Smith box a domain controller of a domain other than what my 2k servers control, does E-Smith have the ability to restrict where the users login? For example, I only want Joe to login on three machines, can I put the netbios names somewhere in E-Smith so that Joe can only login on those machines? If this is possible, would this extend to the Proxy-auth module as well?

Good Morning,

Evidently there is an rpm out there that has a separate panel for proxy-users. Everyone states that it is on www.e-smith.dyndns.org but I can't get to that address. Is it down as well as myezserver.com?

Try just http://e-smith.dyndns.org/ instead. myezserver.com works for me, but Darrell has moved most of his stuff to contribs.org anyway...
