Hello

I have found a small program to administer tinydns
pretty simple install but you have to follow it close

edit the config the example file locations in the install file
are not right for sme

some may find vegadns useful some my not

We installed it however you have to turn off globals on the php side. It runs well however and entering dns records is fairly simple if you understand DNS record creation. still trying to figure out how to keep SME from turning globals back on everytime the system restarts.

What do you mean by globals?

You will have to edit your php template as sme uses it to set configs

sme templates control most of your server setup

Hmm, register_global is normally in php.ini. That's not the case for SME? I do see php.ini in /etc

You can change your php settings wherever you like
but if there is a sme template for them they will change back at next reboot unless the template it updated

sme uses templates for many settings

apache config files qmail horde etc

I have followed the INSTALL notes on the vegadns webpage and am getting this error when I try to browse to the site:

Warning: Smarty error: problem writing temporary file '/etc/httpd/vegadns/templates_c/4140ebec6d458' in /home/e-smith/files/ibays/Primary/html/vegadns-0.8.1/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1102

I looked in the httpd.conf file to find the DocumentRoot and the ServerRoot and substituted those values instead of the ones used on the webpage.
DocumentRoot = /home/e-smith/files/ibays/Primary/html
ServerRoot = /etc/httpd/


I also found that SME 6.0.1-01 has www.www as user and group for apache and substituted that when I chowned and chmoded the directories.

Now when I browse to the webpage from my laptop to the SME server I get a bunch of errors, the first one I receive is the one I posted at the top of this message.

Can anybody tell me what exactly the problem is?
