bpalogin qld problems
« on: May 26, 2003, 11:56:27 AM »
i have attempted to setup bigpond in qld using bpalogin 1.3 and 2 but every time it hooks on it has trouble reaching the dhcp server watching the logs. it sits there for a bit then gives a time out.

the nic has a telstra ip i just cant get it to work and i dont know why.

somthing that seems strange is the dhcp server it finds then can't access is a vic dhcp .

i am using realtek nics and sme 5.6 r2

can someone tell me what i am doing wrong
i followed all of the how to's using different variations it just wont work.
ps i also read most of the previous posts to no avail.

thanks darren

Darren,

there is a 'please note' item under the setup of a D-Link 701 portion of the FAQ at BPALogin.sourceforge.net that says:
Enable DNS configuration type anything for the host and (important part here) *.bigpond.net.au for the domain, where * is the state you reside. For example, queensland cable access is qld.bigpond.net.au

Don't know if that helps. (I am now on Optus and live in Melbourne, so don't have any problems). Also I previously set up a number of smoothwall connections to Telstra for friends and on the odd occasion had resolve.conf problems (also noted in the smoothwall doco).

Lots of information is available at www.whirlpool.net.au
