SNMP errors
« on: May 27, 2003, 02:11:08 PM »
Ever since I installed MRTG I get this email every 30 mins or so
I can see that my SNMP is not working properly, but can't find any way of fixing it.
Can anyone help?
I have done a "start service snmpd" which says "done" and seems to start fine.

Thanks
Steven

Hi Steven,

This might very well be because you do not have SNMP access rights. Try to have a look at sme.swerts-knudsen.dk to see how to modify the hosts.allow file under the MRTG howto..

This is the howto I used to install the MRTG , I've checked the hosts.allow and it seems to be correct
Any other ideas?

Thanks

Do you get any graphs build? What are you trying to monitor?

I am trying to install the spam assassin mrtg.
I actually have no idea what mrtg does or how to use it, so I dont know if it is working, all I wanted to do is get it to work with spam assassin.
Got any ideas to test it?

Thanks
Steven

When you issue the command (my first attempt):

[root@e-smith ]# spam-stats

spam: 4
clean: 19
skipped: 0
total: 23
processed: 23

Do you get some numbers ? You should get graphs like this:
http://www.swerts-knudsen.dk/mrtg/spamassassin/spam_percent_nonspam.html

and

I haven't installed the spam-assassin mrtg yet, I want to get rid of this error first, otherwise i'm going to uninstall mrtg.
