logrotate chewing up all the processes

Hello all

I have an trustng old Abit BP6 (dual celeron) hosting about a dozen domains and running a local area network for past couple of years (now running 5.5). However over the last couple of months I have observed my cpu processes creeping up and up, to the point that the machine will fail to respond. The process which is causing this seems to be logrotate. If I restart the machine all it well for a couple of days and then it startes to creep again. When I kill the process everything is fine for another couple of days as well.

Would anyone know why this process is running out of control?
