Topic: MSN Filetransfer on SME 5.6?

Hi all,

I have a question that I didn't find an answer to on this forum after a short search.
I want file and voice traffic from msn to get through the 5.6 firewall. I read the howto on Minddigger.com but this is for 5.5 and earlier releases and it uses I believe a different sort of firewall?

Anyway I tried something else. Portforwarding all 6989-6901 TCP ports to 10.0.0.0 using the portforwarding tool found on Shad Lords's website. It didn't work, worse when removing the forwarded ports all the other forward entries took on the deleted internal IP number and port number..... weird. But I degress. Other possibility is that my hardware router is also misconfigured. I will take a look at that later. First thing though would be to have the SME set up properly.

So the answer I'm looking for is if anyone has an updated howto of MSN masquerading for a 5.6 SME wanting to use all or at least most of MSN's extra functions (eg filetransfer, voicechat).

Not really an answer to your problem, but I have a friend that was looking to do the same thing and couldn't get it going and didn't succeed. What he did find out though was the Yahoo version (I don't know what they call it) worked without much hassle at all. Like I said, not an answer to your problem but it might be worth looking at some alternatives anyway.
