Forgive me to bother you with my maybe bored topic but I'm desperate, especially while nobody on the General Discusion Forum responds.

I'm testing this version with a WindowsME client connected via 10/100 TX LAN-cards and switch (server with two NIC's)

I have some trouble with a time-out-like behaviour from the server.

During transport of many files (line & disk activity) I notice not only pretty good performance but every now and then everything stock. Pinging from my client don't give reason to think there is a time out because from there the copying of the files continues.

Somebody told me it might be some power management issue not only in idle situation but also during transferring.

Do you know if this feature is on board of this version and if yes what is the default.

Anyhow do you know what kind of problem do I have here.

Let me know, if you need more details.

Thanks
Robin

If this only happens during high network-use, I suspect you may have a bad switch/hub, or a bac NIC(s) in either your client, or your server.

Sounds more like a hub or cable issue than a computer problem to me.

With such a small network, I'd test each computer with a direct X-cable connection to eliminate the hub and current cabling.

If problems continue at BOTH stations, and your SME has 2 network cards, switch the local & global configuration, so you can eliminate the current local card.

IF you have a card with a realtek 8139 chipset, you may want to search the forum for comments about that card and issues invovling it.

Hope this helps
