I have a HP DAT24 drive in my Mitel 5.6 server. Backups are working fine at the moment, as I have under 10GB data being backed-up.

My question is, when I reach the maximum native capacity (which most people are suggesting 10.4GB) how can I use either hardware or software compression to allow back-up of all data.

Does SME support either Hardware or Software compressions ?

Hardware compression is set on by default at the factory via a dip switch on the drive.

Counting on compression to be able to back up more data isn't such a sound idea. If you need more space you need another drive. Say hello to a DDS4 or a DLT7000/8000.
