Topic: MySQL can't SQL

Tried to create a new database and I get this error. "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/m" Error actually ends exactly as I typed it between the ""'s. Any ideas anybody? Would an upgrade to a newer version solve this problem?

I'd see if mysql is running

ps -aux |grep -i "mysql"
