Sending problems
« on: July 10, 2003, 02:28:46 PM »
I have just tried a couple of tests to do with why my mail takes so long to send when it is big.
I changed my SMTP server address in "other email settings" on the user pannel from my ISPs SMTP server to blank. - Still takes about five minutes to send a 500k mail
Then I went into my outlook settings and changed my SMTP server from that of my SME to my ISPs SMTP server, and it set almost instantly!
So now I know that it is a problem with my SME box.
Does anyone know what could cause this, and if there is no solution, can I set my mail to queue on my server instead of trying to send directly from the PC (so that my users don't see it taking this long?)

Running SME 5.6U4, ADSL

Any help please

Thanks
Steven

Hi Steven,
I have the same problem.
SME 5.6U4, ADSL Static IP
Mail use to just scream out of the outbox, now it sits for anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 mins. (sometimes days) These emails are just text.
I had to increase the time out in outlook settings to send because it would just error out complaining that it could find the server, but the server didn't respond???
I tried the local ip and the FQDN for the mail server with the same results.
It seems that qmail (or smtpfront) isn't responding to the internal network SMTP request, or it is just taking its time...

Thanks
Shane
