The SPT (source port) and DPT (destination port) will not be the same. Example, when you go to a web site your source IP is you PCs IP address, your source PORT is a randomly chosen, unused (above 1023) and the destination IP is the web sites IP with designation PORT 80. When the website page is returned to your PC every thing is 'flipped' Also there are no two MAC addresses in the entire world that are the same. The first three bytes are Vendor specific and the last three are chosen by that vendor. ( http://www.coffer.com/mac_find/ )

Here are suggested books from O'Reilly  'TCP/IP Network Administration' by Craig Hunt ant Windows NT- TCP/IP' also by Craig Hunt and lastly DNS and BIND by Cricket Liu. Any books from Graig Hunt or Cricket Liu are sure winners. Cricket Liu has a website (http://www.menandmice.com).

The TCP/IP suite of protocols is not easy so keep playing with Ethereal, read, play, suffer and have fun !

I also have a problem with my SME 5.5 and 5.6 installations on ADSL in South Africa, they drop the line intermittently and you have to reset the modem (BRS) to start the line again. Thank you for all the comments I will read before submitting log files etc.
