Pulsar ADSL PCI card

Pulsar ADSL PCI card
« on: August 27, 2003, 12:03:32 AM »
There was some discussion a while back about the Pulsar PCI-card ADSL modem.

Has anyone successfully used one in 5.6 or later? I'd be interested to know experiences, esp. which driver was used, and the exact steps for setting up and configuring, any "gotchas" etc.

I rather favour this solution over the router I'm currently using, but I don't want to buy the card and find it's just a big problem!

TIA

Makes two of us!! I'm at the pre-purchase stage as well and have asked similar questions of the manufacturer. I'll let you know what feedback, if any, I get from them.

Rick, Below are my questions to the manufacturers and their responses. Don't know if this meets your info needs. Website for manufacturers (has lots of info I don't yet understand) is

Hi Robert,
Thanks for your query.
No, you don't need to compile.
If your protocol is bridged ethernet or pppoE then you just load a module.
If it is some other protocol then you need to load a patch.
We need to write some e-smith instructions but you can call Guy at Traverse
for phone assistance 03 9486 7775.

Rob

Thanks for digging this up. I've already had a good look round the Traverse site, and found various drivers and tech. docs. which tell me enough about what _should_ work. I was kinda keen to know if anyone had actually used one successfully!

I'll drop them an email, mainly to confirm exactly which driver to use (presumably the RH 7.3 one). At least they know about e-smith!

Looks like I'll be buying a card soon :) I'll keep you updated.
