Because SME 6.x is not at production release yet, I am going to stick to rolling out 5.6U4 servers for now. However, I also need to get support for the newer chipset motherboards, etc. So, I've downloaded the current Errata kernel from RedHat (version 2.4.20-20.7) and installed an SME 5.6U4 server with the updated kernel and relevant packages.
I can get the updated ppp_mppe.o for the i686 platform but cannot get one for an athlon platform at this stage.
On an Intel based server, it boots OK with no errors.
Now, my question is :-
Does anyone know if the following add ins / contribs are kernel version dependent or not ? (Yes, this is a newbie type question as I'm still trying to work out what is kernel dependent and what is not - obvious things like drivers are kernel dependent but what else ?).
1. Freeswan contrib
2. Arkeia backup contrib
3. powstatd contrib
4. apcupsd contrib
5. CLAMAV contrib
and any of the other packages that ships out of the box with SME 5.6 ?
